Off-Center Log Cabin ©1982 by Ami Simms 36" x 36" A local Blue Grass festival wanted a hand-quilting demonstration one very hot July and I remember hand-quilting this little quilt as the hot dry dust of the outdoor venue swirled around me. My teeth were gritty, but the quilt turned out OK. I was inspired by Maria McCormick’s luscious off-center log cabin and decided to play around with the idea. This one failed by comparison because, wanting to speed things up, I opted for fewer logs which dulled the effect. Oh well. Live and learn.
