When I hand applique using my Invisible Applique stitch or when I hand piece, I use this thread. It's 100% polyester. So far I haven't been struck by lightning. My little ladder stitch is rough on thread and I like to yank hard to make sure the thread is pulled all the way. I also make a bunch of stitches before I pull the thread taut. Silk slips and cotton breaks. So far, this is the best thread I've found for the job. I run it over a cake of beeswax to make it even stronger. While Invisible Applique really does hide the thread and I could use bright orange for everything, for the rare times I mess up, I do match thread to the fabric I'm stitching through. Buy this assortment of 28 yummy colors and you'll get "close enough" to just about any fabric you might be stitching. Each spool has 100 meters (109 yards) of high quality thread.
