Irma Gail is an award winning quilter, author of 8 books, and teacher. Her awards include: 1988 Best of Show - AIQA Houston, 1993 Best of Show - Quilt America!, Best Hand Workmanship Awards at both the 1994 and 2000 AQS Shows, NQA's 1997 Mary Krickbaum Award for Hand Quilting, 1997 Best Hand Workmanship at Quilt America, and NQA's 1995 Masterpiece Quilt Award. In 1999 her quilt, "Conway Album (I'm Not From Baltimore," was selected as one of the 100 Best American Quilts of the 20th Century. In 2002, three of her quilts were show in an exhibit entitled, "30 Distinguished Quilters of the World," in Tokyo, Japan. She was selected as the 2003 Arkansas Living Treasure. She was also nominated as one of the 24 All American Quilters of the American Quilter's Society in 2004. Irma Gail teaches hand quilting and 3-dimensional applique at the national level. Hatcher (since 1957), and they have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
