Finished size: 51" x 69"
This pattern is for ADVANCED quilters only who are proficient in appliqué (hand or machine), have good rotary cutting skills, have sewn strange shapes and angles before, and like bias edges. It would also help if you don't mind labeling pieces and parts as you work, because I'm going to tell you to do that. Trust me; it will help.
The pattern consists of a huge, big, fat piece of paper with the entire side and bottom border, sun, and hourglass elements drawn out to size. You'll have to trace those elements onto your fabric. They, along with the bikini tops, are appliquéd. The instructions are illustrated with line drawings, and are eight pages long. (If that's not enough reading, click HERE to read the story behind this quilt.)
The cutting strategies may leave you with leftovers. No whining. If you didn't cut the parts out that way, you'd have to take a little vacation in the rubber room at your local hospital wearing one of those nice white jackets with the long sleeves.
This quilt isn't for sissies. Don't plan on making this quilt in a week-end or after you've had a beer.
