This one is big and beautiful and filled with hearts! Melissa Dawson of Lowell, MA took leftover heart blocks made by Jean Jones, Jennifer Munro, Cathy Cormier, Teresa Richards, Pam Hawkins, Lisa Johnson, and Donna Dyer and turned them into a gorgeous top. Joy Cramer of Fenton, MI took on the momentous job of quilting this masterpiece, using a backing from one of my old demonstration quilts. (If you hand quilted with me at the Whaley House you'll recognize the pink micro-dot backing fabric. Careful observers will see “needle holes” in a few places of the previous hand quilting done by several years of students. These will fade away with the first wash.) Joy filled this heart quilt with beautiful machine quilting with variegated thread that meanders across the top around every heart in the center portion of the quilt. Each block in the border has a single machine quilted heart in the center with white thread. It is bound with a wide pink binding brought to the front and stitched by machine. The quilt measures 67" by 88".
Another wonderful collaboration. Thank you to everyone who played a part!
This quilt earned $142.50 for Leader Dogs For The Blind!
